Sewer

Sewer services are provided by the Village of Rapids City and is pumped to the City of East Moline for treatment.

Cost: The minimum charge per month for sewer is $35.00 for the first 2,000 gallons and $5.75 per thousand gallons after the first 2,000 gallons. Statements are sent by the 7th of each month payments are due in the Village Office by the last day of same month. Payments may be made at the Village Office during regular business hours, by mail or by using the drop slot provided, for your convenience, at the Village Hall. Slot is located to the left of the Village Hall main entrance.

Sewer Issues: If a resident has sewer issues, they are to contact the Village Hall immediately at 309-496-2321 during regular business hours from 9am to 4pm, Monday thru Friday. If after hours contact the non-emergency police at 496-9123 or 755-4524. The police will contact village personnel.


Water

Water services are provided by the Village of Rapids City.

Cost: The minimum charge per month for water is $28.00 for the first 2,000 gallons, $2.30 per thousand gallons for the next 23,000 gallons, $2.09 per thousand gallons for the next 25,000 gallons, and $1.99 per thousand over 50,000 gallons. Statements are sent by the 7th of each month payments are due in the Village Office by the last day of same month. Payments may be made at the Village Office during regular business hours, by mail or by using the drop slot provided, for your convenience, at the Village Hall. Slot is located to the left of the Village Hall main entrance.

Payment: Water meters are read once a month during the last two days of the current month or the first two days of the next month. You will be billed each month for the previous month's usage. There is a $100.00 deposit required on all accounts receiving water and/or sewer.

Garbage & Recycling

Garbage and recycling services are provided by Allied Waste.

Garbage: The Village of Rapids City contracts with Allied Waste for this service. All Rapids City residents will have their garbage picked up by Allied Waste. The following rates and rules apply: The rate for garbage pickup is $12.00 per month, covering curbside recycling every other week and monthly large item pick up and administrative costs. The cost of this service is billed on your water/sewer bill or separately for those without village water or sewer. Charges are for the past month's service as are water and sewer. Garbage is picked up after 7:00 a.m. on Friday of each week. There is a large item pickup the first Friday of every month. In the event of a holiday, garbage will be picked up on Saturday.

Recycling: will be picked up every other week. Recycling schedules can be picked up at the village office. Recycling is strongly recommended but not mandatory at this time. We encourage all residents to participate in the recycling learning process. It is predicted recycling will be mandatory in Rock Island County at a later date. The cost of recycling is included in the garbage rate, whether you choose to recycle or not. A recycling bin is provided to each household by Allied Waste. Next Meeting Agenda

May 1st, 2018 a Village of Rapids City Public Hearing will be held to discuss the Operating Budget at 6:30pm.  The Village of Rapids City Regular Board Meeting will follow the Public Hearing at 7:00pm.  There will be no Regular Board Meeting on May 8th, 2018.

Rapids City will be holding an E-Waste Event on April 21st, 2018 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Collection of e-waste will be at the lot across from Brother's Family Restaurant on Route 84. This event will be for Rapids City residents only, ID will be required for this event. E-Waste Chart

Community Clean-Up Day will be held on April 28th, 2018. Volunteers please meet at Rapids City Village Hall at 9am. Clean-up areas will cover the Bike Path along Route 84, 12th Street and 17th Street. For more information please call the Village Office at 309-496-2321.

The President and Board of Trustees of Rapids City would like to invite all Rapids City Active/Reserve Military and Veterans to an appreciation luncheon honoring their service May 19th, 2018 from 11am to 1pm at the Rapids City Community Center. The Village is also please to announce a Representative from the VA will be at this event to reach out to aide anyone whom may be interested in the services they provide.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer to help serve our Veterans and Military Personnel please contact the Village Office at 309-496-2321.

Free Blood Pressure Checks each Thursday at Village Hall at 10:00am. If Medics have an emergency call pressure checks may be canceled without notice.

We now have a "Little Library" located at 730-17th Street, alongside of the maintenance shop. This is a take and leave books. It was donated by the Rotary Club. Please take advantage of this awesome new addition to our community!
