Sewer services are provided by the Village of Rapids City and is pumped to the City of East Moline for treatment.
Cost: The minimum charge per month for sewer is $35.00 for the first 2,000 gallons and $6.85 per thousand gallons after the first 2,000 gallons (effective 07-01-2023). Statements are sent by the 7th of each month payments are due in the Village Office by the last day of same month. Payments may be made at the Village Office during regular business hours, by mail or by using the drop slot provided, for your convenience, at the Village Hall. Drop slot is located to the left of the Village Hall main entrance.
Sewer Issues: If a resident has sewer issues, they are to contact the Village Hall immediately at 309-496-2321 during regular business hours from 9am to 4pm, Monday thru Friday. If after hours contact the non-emergency police at 496-9123 or 755-4524. The police will contact village personnel.

Payment: Water meters are read once a month during the last two days of the current month or the first two days of the next month. You will be billed each month for the previous month's usage. There is a $100.00 deposit required on all accounts receiving water and/or sewer.

The Village of Rapids City contracts with Republic Services for garbage and recycling refuse collection and disposal. All Rapids City residents will have their refuse picked up by Republic Services. Republic Services will provide collection cans, weekly garbage collection, curbside recycling bi-weekly collection and a monthly large item pick up. Yard waste collection is available at an additional charge. At this time there is no charge for a once a month large item pick up. The rate for weekly garbage collection and bi-weekly recycling collection will be:
August 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024 - $13.90 monthly
July 1st, 2024 to June 30th, 2025 - $14.53 monthly
July 1st, 2025 to June 30th, 2026 - $15.18 monthly
July 1st, 2026 to June 30th, 2027 - $15.86 monthly
July 1st, 2027 to June 30th, 2028 - $16.58 monthly
The monthly collection rate will be billed on your Village of Rapids City utility bill.

Garbage: *Garbage is picked up after 6:00 a.m. on Friday of each week. Garbage outside of the Republic Services provided can will not be collected.
Recycling: Linked you will find a guide to identify which items are acceptable to recycle. All recycling is picked up on an every other Friday schedule. Collection may begin at 6:00am. Items to be recycled that are not inside of the Republic Services provided can will not be collected. Recycling schedules can be picked up at the village office and are also linked below.
Large Item Pick Up: Large item pick up is on the 1st Thursday of the first full week of the month. This special pick up is intended for a single item to be picked up that will not fit in a provided garbage can. Items that are considered hazardous, electronics, tires and appliances will not be taken, if you have an item that would fall in one of these categories please call the Village Office to get assistance with disposal options. We have listed all large item pick up dates for the remainder of the year.

You will need to contact the Village Office to be added to the list of pick-ups. If you do not let us know you have an item to be pick-up Republic Services will not collect it.

CONSTRUCTION AND ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE
17th Street Hill will be closed to all traffic just after 7th Avenue A to 5th Avenue effective June 21st, 2023. All residents below the hill will still be able to access 17th Street at this time. All businesses will be open and accessible during this time of construction.
Detour signs will be posted and all the necessary response agencies, school system, etc. have been notified to prevent any delay in response times should the need arise. Speed limits on all detour routes are expected to be followed. If lack of respect for the speed limits in the detour zones occurs the Rock Island County Sherriff's Officers will monitoring all detour routes to ensure speed limits are being obeyed.

• Village Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. At this time the meetings are being held upstairs at Village Hall located at 1204 4th Avenue. All meeting attendees are required to wear a mask when medically tolerable to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All meeting agendas will have a link to attend open meetings virtually via Zoom.
