Natural Gas

Gas services are provided by MidAmerican Energy.

Sewer

Sewer services are provided by the Village of Rapids City and is pumped to the City of East Moline for treatment.

Cost: The minimum charge per month for sewer is $35.00 for the first 2,000 gallons and $6.85 per thousand gallons after the first 2,000 gallons (effective 07-01-2023). Statements are sent by the 7th of each month payments are due in the Village Office by the last day of same month. Payments may be made at the Village Office during regular business hours, by mail or by using the drop slot provided, for your convenience, at the Village Hall. Drop slot is located to the left of the Village Hall main entrance.

Sewer Issues: If a resident has sewer issues, they are to contact the Village Hall immediately at 309-496-2321 during regular business hours from 9am to 4pm, Monday thru Friday. If after hours contact the non-emergency police at 496-9123 or 755-4524. The police will contact village personnel.


Water

Water services are provided by the Village of Rapids City.

Cost: The minimum charge per month for water is $30.00 for the first 2,000 gallons, $3.00 per thousand gallons thereafter the initial 2,000 gallons (effective 07-01-2023).  Statements are sent by the 7th of each month payments are due in the Village Office by the last day of same month. Payments may be made at the Village Office during regular business hours, by mail or by using the drop slot provided, for your convenience, at the Village Hall. Drop slot is located to the left of the Village Hall main entrance.

Payment: Water meters are read once a month during the last two days of the current month or the first two days of the next month. You will be billed each month for the previous month's usage. There is a $100.00 deposit required on all accounts receiving water and/or sewer.

Garbage & Recycling

Garbage: The Village of Rapids City contracts with Allied Waste for this service. All Rapids City residents will have their garbage picked up by Allied Waste. The following rates and rules apply: The rate for garbage pickup is $13.25 per month, covering Allied approved collection cans, curbside recycling every other week and monthly large item pick up and administrative costs. The cost of this service is billed on your water/sewer bill or separately for those without village water or sewer. Charges are for the past month's service as are water and sewer. Garbage is picked up after 6:00 a.m. on Friday of each week. There is a large item pickup the first Thursday of the first full week of each month. In the event of a holiday, garbage will be picked up on Saturday.

Recycling: The Village of Rapids City contracts with Allied Waste for this service. All Rapids City residents will have their recycling picked up by Allied Waste.  The cost for recycle services is included with your garbage rate.  All recycling is picked up on an every other week schedule. Recycling schedules can be picked up at the village office and are also linked below. Recycling is strongly recommended but not mandatory at this time. We encourage all residents to participate in the recycling learning process. It is predicted recycling will be mandatory in Rock Island County at a later date. A recycling bin is provided to each household by Allied Waste.
The Village of Rapids City is your contact if you have a complaint, need to arrange of a large item pickup, or if your Allied approved collection can for garbage or recycling is in need of replacement.  You may contact us by calling or emailing the Village Office.

Large item pick up is on the 1ST THURSDAY OF THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF EACH MONTH. This special pick up is intended for a single item to be picked up that will not fit in a provided garbage bin.  Items that are considered hazardous, electronics, tires and appliances will not be taken, if you have an item that would fall in one of these categories please call the Village Office to get assistance with disposal options.  We have listed all large item pick up dates for the remainder of the year.

You will need to contact the Village Office to be added to the list of pick-ups. If you do not let us know you have an item to be pick-up Allied Waste will not collect it.

The Village of Rapids City has provided a link to the Rock Island County Health Department website to aid with the COVID-19 vaccination process. https://www.richd.org/  If you have questions related to public health please contact the Rock Island County Health Department.


• Village Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. At this time the meetings are being held upstairs at Village Hall located at 1204 4th Avenue. All meeting attendees are required to wear a mask when medically tolerable to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All meeting agendas will have a link to attend open meetings virtually via Zoom.
